Event Description:
The Mojave Family Adventure is an AMA Sanctioned off-road event for the whole family to enjoy! Bring the kids, grandkids and rest of your family to the Mojave Desert near Ridgecrest, California for an adventure with our family! This one day, GPS based, self-guided off-road event visits scenic & historic areas of the beautiful Spangler Hills OHV area and the amazing Trona Pinnacles, covering a route of approximately 30 miles on 2-track dirt roads. Get your New Years off to a good start by taking the family out for some trail time. This family friendly event caters to all ages, all skill levels and all vehicles.

Registration Fee:
Advanced registration fee for this event is $49.00 per person or a family of 4 for $175. This price is the same whether you are a rider or passenger. Late registration is available from December 1st – December 31st, 2008 at the rate of $60 or family price of $225. Directions:
The event will start and end at the Wagon Wheel staging area. From Highway 395 take Highway 178 East. Turn South on Trona - Red Mountain Road. The Wagon Wheel staging area is approximately 5 miles South of Hwy 178 on the East Side of Trona – Red Mountain Road. If you pass Searles Station Cutoff Road then you have gone too far.
Amenities:
There are no services available at the Wagon Wheel staging area. The nearest town is Ridgecrest. To find Ridgecrest return to Trona – Red Mountain Road and go North to Hwy 178. Turn West on Hwy 178 and continue for approximately 5 miles to the town of Ridgecrest. Ridgecrest has hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, shopping centers and motorcycle shops. Sign-up / Staging Location:
Sign-ups will take place at our booth at the Wagon Wheel Staging area. To locate our booth follow the signs or navigate via GPS to: N35 34.552 W117 32.692. Registration will be open on Friday from 3pm to 5pm. Registration will resume again at 8:00am Saturday Morning. GPS Routing:
Bring your GPS!!! This is the 21st Century and “Roll Charts” are a thing of the past… A download of suggested routes and destination will be emailed to you upon completion of your registration. Routes consist of 2-track dirt roads and will total approximately 30 miles. If registering at the event, bring your GPS download cable.
Scenic Rides:
THIS IS NOT A RACE!!! This is a fun, EZ-to-follow self-guided off-road, leisurely, scenic and historic trip through parts of the beautiful Mojave Desert, Spangler Hills and the Amazing Trona Pinnacles. In most cases routes are passable with a 4WD vehicle. In case routes or destinations are closed due to weather or other conditions, alternate destinations and routes will be selected. Motorcycle Requirements:
All motorcycles must meet the following requirements. Failure to meet requirements will result in your money being refunded and you being asked to leave the event.
- Spark arresters are mandatory.
- Must be a “Green Sticker”, “Red Sticker” or street licensed vehicle.
- You will need to be able to go at least 40 miles on a tank of gas.
Other Information:
- Destinations and routes are only our recommendations. This area has SO MUCH to offer that we hesitate to limit your experience. All suggested destination and routes have been examined by our staff and deemed appropriate for this event. GPS downloads are an accurate representation of the route and include waypoints at various points of historical and scenic interest. A map showing suggested destinations, routes, points of scenic beauty and historical interest and bailouts is handed out during registration.
- Bring clothing appropriate for the weather condition. This is a rain or shine event.
- Bring a camera! This is a beautiful area, take lots of pictures.
- Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
- During our lunch destination at the Trona Pinnacles we will award raffle prizes and thank our generous sponsors.
